Profile of National Quality Supervising Test Center for Materials of Ship and Marine Engineering Equipment
National Quality Supervising Test Center for Materials of Ship and Marine Engineering Equipment (NTCMSMEE for short) was approved by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China in December 2012, and it is an affiliate of Zhuhai Supervision Testing Institute of Quality and Metrology. At present, it is the only national testing center for ship and marine engineering equipment materials in China.
(1)Information of the parent institution
Guangdong Zhuhai Supervision Testing Institute of Quality and Metrology (GZSTIQM) is a statutory organization for quality and metrology supervising and testing, and also it is an unbiased third-party detection institution. Affiliated with Zhuhai Bureau of Quality, GZSTIQM is a public institution with independent legal status. The experiment area covers 20000 square meters and the worker number is over 200, while the total rate of Ph. Ds, Masters, senior engineers and engineers is above 60%. Multiple inspection centers have been set up in GZSTIQM, including National Quality Supervising Test Center for Consumables of Printing and Office Automation, National Quality Supervising Test Center for Materials of Ship and Marine Engineering Equipment (Preparation), Guangdong National Defense Science and Technology Industrial Area Metrology Station, Guangdong Province Quality Supervision Battery Testing Station, Guangdong Province Quality Supervision Yacht Material Testing Station, Guangdong Province Quality Supervision Precious Metal and Gemstone Testing Station (Zhuhai) and Zhuhai Testing Center for Gold, Silver and Jewelry.
National Quality Supervising Test Center for Materials of Ship and Marine Engineering Equipment is developed from Guangdong Province Quality Supervision Yacht Material Testing Station (YMT). The headquarters of YMT is located in Nanping Industrial Park, while the branch is located in Pingsha Southland Yacht Material Trading Center. Has nearly 29937 square meters experiment area, over 50 advanced test instruments are equipped, such as Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP), Metallurgical Microscope, Spark Direct Reading Spectrometer, Various Ton-level Universal Tensile Testing Machines, Brinell, Rockwell and Vickers Hardness Tester, High Frequency IR Carbon Sulfur Analyzer, Sun Climate Instrument, etc. And also, over 10 sample processing machines are equipped, such as Digital Controlled Lathe, Miller, Grinder, Linear Cutting Machine, Metal Band Sawing Machine and Universal Sampling Machine, etc. The equipment can guarantee sampling, testing and research ability of the center. Qualifications from CMA, CAL, CNAS and CCS have been authorized. The services include supervision inspection, entrusted inspection and arbitration inspection, covering the follow aspects: static mechanics, physical property, general physico-chemical properties and nondestructive analysis of metal and fiber reinforced plastic, physical and chemical properties analysis of resin, paint and oils, cabin aerial and water quality testing.
(2)Status of NTCMSMEE construction
NTCMSMEE is located in Gaolan Port Economic Area. The center covers nearly 16666.8 square meters, and laboratory area has been planned to be 30000 square meters. At the beginning of 2015, the laboratory building will be in use, and the center will be running later that year. The center has one professor engineer, two Ph. Ds and five Masters. Superior in welding procedure qualification, metallographic inspection and glass fiber reinforced plastic test, its service area has extended to cities like Hainan and Xiamen, etc. Recently, a batch of sophisticated equipment such as Fatigue Machine, Scanning Electron Microscope, X-ray diffractometer are equipped to further enhance the testing capabilities, e.g., asbestos detection and fatigue test. NTCMSMEE aims to be a domestic first-class service platform at advanced international level, which can deliver omnibearing services in materials test, research and development, technology exchange and training.
